Couple Arrives At Dock Late Just In Time To Watch Their Cruise Ship Dapart

March 6, 2019

Haha -- throw those hands up, buddy!

In 'that looks exactly like the kind of couple who I'd imagine would show up late for their departing cruise ship and expect it would wait for them' news, this is a video of a couple in Nassau, Bahamas, watching the Symphony Of The Seas leave dock without them after showing up 50 minutes late. Some more info while I don't feel sorry at all:

All aboard time was 3:30pm. At 4:15PM the gangway was removed, doors were closed and the lines were let loose. The couple showed up approximately 5 minutes later only to see the ship preparing to push off!

My parents are actually big cruisers and they said that on the last cruise they took somebody got left behind at a port for not being aboard the ship on time and SPOILER: that person was me. The only difference is I don't care, I live here now.

Keep going for the video, which is largely missable if other people's misfortune isn't as much your bag as it is mine.

Thanks to Cyndi M, who wants to know this couple's record for showing up to job interviews on time.

I just got off a cruise, and it was scheduled to dock in two of the BVAs in concecutive days;since the day before arriving at the first island, in every place, activity, conversation with the crew, communication on the cruise, post it note they clearly made everyone aware of the following "please push your watches one hour forward, since we need to synchronyze with the local time", well, when the cruise was leaving port, there was a catamaran speeding trying to catch up with it, because a whole family had beel left behind. I picture the wife saying "Joe, did you do the watch thing?" "Naaa fugedaboudid will make it on time, no problem"

Probably either shopping and lost track of time, or they were in some fitting room banging before they were going to cast off.

  • Roast_Guider

I love you GW, but laughing at people who missed a boat is something I'd expect to see my grandma post on facebook.

I'm guessing this was a day stop on the cruise, and not the initial cruise departure. They were probably off sight-seeing or shopping, and ended up losing track of time. I've been on a couple of cruises, and they're generally very clear with anyone getting off the ship that the departure time is firm.

On the plus side, I'm sure the cruise company has plans in place for just this kind of incident. I bet it happens more often than you might think.

Reminds of that time when I missed the train by seconds. I was so angry but then I realized I had enough time for a trip to a nearby massage parlor. It was a happy ending.

  • JJtoob

That guy ain't getting a happy ending with an angry chick next to him.

My favorite part of this was "Dapart"

  • Kaizer Chief

News report said their luggage and passports were on the ship... (apologies if this was mentioned in the video, I'm too lazy to watch it).

  • JJtoob

I don't think it was, and I wondered too. That must have been fun for them.

  • Matt Smith

OK, but.... why was someone filming this? I can't imagine that watching one boat loading while aboard another boat is common or fun, so why were they filming? How did they know this was going to happen?

  • WhiteEagle2

The camera man is on a separate cruise ship on the other side of the dock. They were probably sitting there drinking, as one does on cruises, watching the other ship pack up.

  • Douchy McDouche

    It's for their Schadenfreude collection.

  • Ivanna Pewpalott

bet the reason they were late was her putting on her stupid makeup or playing with her stupid hair or i hate my ex wife

  • Nicholas Conrad

    Refreshingly honest.

  • Wooder

The first 50% of the cruise was worth it.

If they were cuban then they could swim for it!

  • Ollie Williams

They also look like the kind of people who immediately called the cruise company and got a bit attitude. You show up 50 minutes late, you deserve to get left behind.
