Turkish Farmer Unfamiliar With Technology Is Frightened By Flying Drone, Attempts To Lasso

September 6, 2018

This is some drone footage from rural Turkey of a 70-year old farmer who's frightened by the drone's sudden appearance above his cow pasture and attempts to lasso it to scare it away from his animals. Apparently the man has "had very few encounters with technology." The drone operator and his friend, who probably shouldn't have been flying their drone over this man's field and scaring him and laughing about it in the first place, payed him a visit after the incident to ensure him he wasn't under attack by aliens or a swarm of insects (which he told them he thought the drone was). Man, how great would that be -- to not even know what a drone is? Or computers or smartphones or Facebook or Instagram? "Or Geekologie." Your words hurt me.

Keep going for the whole video.

Thanks to Closet Nerd, who agrees when it doubt, lasso.

This just confirms to me that all drone pilots are douchenozzles everywhere. I am not a fan of this technology at all.

  • Are there laws about scaring someone's cattle in Turkey? I mean, these ones seem pretty chill (maybe this isn't the first time they've seen the drone), but if a female was frightened enough, she might stop giving milk. The farmer could lose calves over it.

I'm not sure if this is typical of drone owners, or if it's guys like this who give drone people a bad name, but why the hell were they flying their drone over his field?

  • The_Wretched

Drone people are exactly like that. That's why we need free rights to shot down or capture drones. It's all chuckleheads getting up in other people's business.

I know nothing of Turkey or its laws but I know in the US drones were classified as aircraft and so are governed by FAA laws. That also means that shooting one down is treated the same way shooting down a manned aircraft is treated.

I don't know how I feel about this. Having random drunk people shooting into the air sounds bad. Having random dicks fly their drones over private property sounds less bad.

  • The_Wretched

How about it's free to take them out if you use a rope or towel or coconuts to do it?

Give the 70 year old Turkish farmer a break, Jesus Christ, I mean, Mohammad.
