Firefighting PyroLance Can Cut Through Steel To Extinguish An Enclosed Fire Without Adding Oxygen

This is a video demonstration of the PyroLance (not to be confused with pyro Lance, who will burn your house down when you're on vacation), a firefighting tool that looks like an assault rifle and can cut through steel with an ultra-high pressure stream of water and extinguish an enclosed fire through the small hole it creates, and without providing the fire with any more oxygen fuel. Pretty smart. Almost as smart as the time I hired the Big Bad Wolf to blow up pool floats for a party.

Keep going for the video demonstration.

Thanks to hairless, for inspiring me to watch Backdraft tonight.

This is so awesome. The fact that it looks like an AR-15 just makes it that much more awesome.

Its probably a bit to do with...the machining costs are much lower, if they use pre existing tooling etc.

I'm inclined to agree. Also you can really lean into a rifle stock like that and hold a lot of force. And if you make it famliiar that helps the users use it more effectively.

I've used a regular fire hose sprayer. You really have to lean into it, and it tires out your arms. Having some sort of shoulder support would definitely help.

I've never operated a fire hose because by the time I was old enough to try I didn't give a shit. My dad told me all about it and I grew up around lots of volunteer firefighters. The fact my dad was leaving every time the fire whistle blew was enough for me to not be interested. And going to visit burned houses every time a big fire happened was enough to put me off of the idea for life. Even today I don't stop and look if I drive past a burned house. When the house two doors down was pouring flames out of the second floor I looked to see whether I needed to evacuate then went back inside.

Can also be used for impacted bowels...

    Rectum? Damn near killed 'em.

Think you are confusing it with the RectumLance, coming Fall 2018.
