The Ol' Piece Of Paper In Front Of Your Welding Mask Prank

July 5, 2018

This is a video of a man repeatedly sticking a piece of white paper in front of the welding mask of another man who's about to work on some pipe. Basically, he's tricking the welder into thinking his torch isn't working. It's all fun and games until you get somebody to blind themselves staring at a torch with no eye protection. Why you would even do this to a person is beyond me, but I suspect it involves one man sleeping with another man's wife, but that's just a highly educated guess and clearly this welder is no stranger to laying pipe.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to Jay, who agrees this is when you try welding a coworker's hand to a table.

wow the welder's came out of the wood work to correct the satire writer. Seriously guys, you new here?

  • GeneralDisorder

    Welders don't work the wood.

  • bustedgiveadamn

OMG you all don't quit... uh... they came out of the hot water pipes that are in the woodwork (ie walls)

  • Madz

    Probably aussies. Bunch of larrikins.

This is done because it's funny. Something the reporter wouldn't understand. It's a bonding ploy. Welder is probably new to the crew.

And also, not a auto darkening helmet. Do a little research before you jump the shark. Even if it was the card stock would have blocked out most of the light.

Somebody needs to do a little hands on training on how welding hoods operate.

  • bakuryu

Why even try to bond if you can weld?

  • Mysterio Don Lefluerflin

Maybe do a little research before using the phrase, "jump the shark."

  • Cagedruss

Wow, thanks for that. I really feel better that you policed what I wrote. Frankly I don't really care.

I need to get back to my $65 an hour welding job. Rest assured i have been put in my place.

  • Nick Kratz

Not an autodarkening helmet. That’s an old school pipe fitters helmet. If it was an auto darkening model he would be able to clearly see the paper and this video wouldn’t be viral. No ones eyes or wives (seriously?) were harmed in the making of that video. Please educate yourself before going on a rant.

This might not be the website for you.

Yeah, what's up with the anti-intellectualism? I would've thought a site dedicated to geeks would have an audience that's into gaining some knowledge on stuff. Even the title "geekologie" implies a study of geekness. Their jab at GW aside, they do bring some info some people might not be aware of. Just saying.

The two extras in the background clearly need better direction.
