Self-Proclaimed 'Real-Life Batman' Makes Hundreds Of Citizen's Arrests In Stockton, California

July 23, 2018

This is a local news report about an unidentified man (Bruce Wayne) who considers himself a real-life Batman and is protecting Stockton, California by making citizens arrests and handcuffing people anytime he witnesses some criminal activity. Or possible criminal activity. Or possibly no criminal activity whatsoever. Dammit, Batman, what the hell are you doing?

The video shows the vigilante detaining a man he claims is smoking crystal meth, outside a busy 99 Cents Only Store.

Stockton's Batman won't use his real name or show his face. But told CBS13, that he's nabbed hundreds of alleged criminals at the same Stockton Shopping Center.

"They're criminals in to which point they're committing crimes in front of my eyes," he said.

Stockton Police said the man in the video wasn't arrested or even cited.

But Batman said many of the bad guys he goes after do end up behind bars.

Stockton Police say a citizen's arrest is perfectly legal in California.

And pictures prove, police do show up for back-up, but not everyone's buying it.

"How do we know it's legit anyway?" one woman said.

It's a question, only he can answer.

"I am the real Batman," he said.

Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about all this. On one hand, people running around pretending they're superheroes is definitely a world I want to live in. On the other hand, this guy sounds like he's addicted to making citizen's arrests and handcuffing people. If somebody tries handcuffing me because they think I'm doing something illegal we're gonna have a problem. And that problem is probably going to be me trying to regurgitate the handcuff key I swallowed because yes those stereos were stolen and I ain't going back to jail.

Keep going for the worthwhile video news report, which includes such hits as:
"Where you get these handcuffs from homie?"
"Uh you can get em online."

Thanks to Thaylor H, who agrees a real superhero wouldn't need to use handcuffs.

Actually he arrest people all over the city very few are at the 99 cent store if you follow him you’ll see he’s in the roughest parts of Stockton catching people with guns, sawed off shotguns, stolen vehicles, people breakin into cars, arsonist, he got a guy with a fully automatic assault rifle in a domestic dispute you name it. Just because the story is at the 99 cent store does not mean anything they just filmed it there and focused on that one event because the video of the guy smoking meth spread across social media and occurred there. He has denied interviews with Inside Edition Edition, CNN, and Fox News etc who want to show the whole story. Also to the Editor he does not call himself Batman or think he’s a superhero the people named him that and he’s been helping people in the city since 2012 and never posted or did any interviews he’s just a regular guy whose tired of seeing a city he grew up in turn into the city it has become. He also rescues people from fires, puts out fires, and saved lives in car accidents. I don’t understand why society complains about the crime and lack of support from the community and government and then also complains when someone does something about it. The news always wants a good story remember that. FYI police arrested the guy in the video after the article and charged him accordingly. The police response time for an emergency in Stockton is hours sometimes even when involving a gun. Stockton has crime everywhere highest in the nation up there next to Detroit and Chicago. Kids are getting shot all the time it’s sad. The guy smoking the meth was doing it in front of children watching him. This world seems to think heroin and meth are the norm setting up places where they can shoot up and get supplies for free. Be a part of the solution and not the problem. Report crime or don’t complain about it.

    What? No "Joker" jokes?

  • Jenness

He's doing this in Stockton? It's one of the highest crime rates in the whole USA.
"In regards to violent offenses, Stockton, CA has a rate that is 219% higher than the California average; 268% higher than US."

Damn. I felt like being judgey until I saw that crime rate. He's not in smalltownville harassing skateboarders and jaywalkers. He's in a town where he's probably lost friends, neighbors and people he loves or witnessed violent assaults one too many times and he snapped.

And he's not shooting unarmed people - just handcuffing them.

  • The_Wretched

I'll be over later to 'just handcuff' you.

It's not so mild when you're on the receiving end.

  • sizzlepants

He's also chasing low hanging fruit.

How about instead of 'arresting' an addict. Maybe, I don't know, don't blame the victim and pursue the dealers providing the supply? Oh. Wait. That would pretty much 100% get this clown shot. A lot.

Better just stick to hassling victims of circumstance and telling yourself you're a "hero".

  • Robert Darling

You should do your research. That low hanging fruit is a high profile sex offender on ankle monitor and after he smokes his meth he is also stealing your cars and breaking into your homes at night or worse targeting children. That’s ok though he’s just an addict right. Smh.

If only citizens arrest was allowed in Illinois... i own a body cam with 16h continuous recording battery life, it would be justified by many.

  • asdfadfs

so does he have a costume? I can't tell with the blur but sadly I think not?

  • Meh

    Now this is kickass.

  • Deksam

Who is it? "I'm That Man!"

  • Munihausen

    Who will bat the Batmen?

    The guilty must be punished.

  • The_Wretched

    Who is guilty?

  • TheQiwiMan

"he's nabbed hundreds of alleged criminals at the same Stockton Shopping Center." -

So he's not really "protecting Stockton, CA", he's more "protecting the Stockton Shopping Center" Batman.

Either way, the real Batman isn't wearing hockey pads.

  • qcp

Of course it's a white guy.

  • The_Wretched

And of course it looks like he's going after black guys.

  • asdfadfs

it's fuckers like you that make guys like spiderman cover every inch of skin.

iirc this wasn't miles, but it should have been miles
