Video Of 'The Most Bizarre Squid' Cephalopod Expert Has Ever Seen

May 4, 2018

This is a video of a previously unknown species of squid chilling out at a depth of around 850-meters (~2,790-feet) on an unnamed mound (name it Bikini Bottom) in the Gulf Of Mexico. Now I've seen a lot of squid in my day (I wanted to be a marine biologist all the way through high school), and that is definitely one of the most peculiar species I've ever seen, and one of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's resident cephalopod experts agrees with me, calling it "the most bizarre squid" he's ever seen. It reminds me of a Half-Life headcrab. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? "Calamari." Dammit, not everything has to be about food. Oysters do give you crazy bones though.

Keep going for the video.

If first guy is worried, I'm worried.

I'm not even firsts guy though, I just get a lot of firsts. There's so much more to me! Like pretending to be things from stories!

  • rhartness

Yeah, this is getting to be odd. He usually at least posts when he'll be away or makes some comment when he's horrifically sick. Just going comm-silent isn't like him at all. I'm getting worried for the guy.

It's honestly crazy to me that there are still unknown anythings on planet Earth. Also the fact that we obviously don't know how much we don't know is wild.

  • The_Wretched

ooh! that we don't know means that it's very likely that space aliens are really just sea critters with hyper-tech!

  • skeptic

Your mom called. She wants her vagina back.

  • Meh

I remember when these oceanview expeditions were streamed on youtube a few years back, that was some relaxing television.

  • Jenness

I am going to have to see where in the Gulf of Mexico they found this because it's so cool.

    Bikini Bottom's alright

    Stay out of Rock Bottom
