The Ol' Kitchen Island Hidden Wine Cellar

March 14, 2018

This is a short video demonstrating the entrance to a wine cellar hidden within a kitchen's island. You know I was just thinking my place needs more hidden rooms and secret passages. Unfortunately, my place is a studio apartment and just one small room with an attached bathroom, so it's not exactly ideal for a Batcave.

Keep going for a short video of the you know where to find me. Or do you?

Thanks to CNast, who agrees secret passages are the best passages.

If it was in my house, I would want that if it was like a safe and had 100 guns and rifles with a video surveillance system in it.

  • theres no wine in there

If you're going to go through the trouble of making a cool hidden wine cellar, why wouldn't you also make sure the hinges to the door are hidden too?

Bet thousands of farmers in South Africa wished they had something like this..

I don't know why there's so many negative people in the world! There's absolutely nothing wrong with this.

  • Meh

But 1. no wine and 2. not so secret after you post it online.

  • GeneralDisorder

It would be cool if it was slightly harder to gain access to. You could have yourself a little kitchen panic room.

by the looks of it the door has hinges that you can see. Maybe better to have a door that swings in and has locks on the inside of it. that will help with a more secure kitchen panic room

My Favorite Murder covered some stories involving secret under-house dungeons, and I guess they got a flood of 'we found one of those under our kitchen' emails cause they just put out a psa: "if you have a secret room under your kitchen, it's okay. It's just a wine cellar". I guess peeps just don't drink wine anymore?

  • GeneralDisorder

I've never enjoyed wine. I don't actually drink at all now. Still, that wine cellar would be a decent pantry for your non-alcoholic goods.

From a gadget geek perspective this is one of the coolest things ever.

From a wine drinkers perspective this is one of the coolest things ever.

Until someone leans on the counter top and falls down into the wine cellar.

I'm more concerned about the Thanksgiving turkey that could fall on the floor when you go down for another bottle. :-)

Sounds like the best accident of all time.
