Adventure!: Driving Your Car Over A Terrifying No-Rail Bridge In Siberia

January 26, 2018

This is a video of adventure seeker Martin Remiš driving what appears to be a tiny meth lab on wheels halfway across a 1,640-foot bridge spanning the Vitim River in Siberia. Great place to cook. The bridge was originally built for trains as part of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM -- great name for a railway line), but the rails were removed after building a safer version (seen to the right). Would you drive it? Personally, I feel the only way to approach a bridge like this is WITH THE PEDAL TO THE METAL. Know what I'm saying? "You're saying you have a death wish." Death is the only adventure I have left. "Did you just quote Hook?" It's a great movie! Also when I said pedal to the metal I meant the brake, then turning around and going home.

Keep going for the video, actual drive starts at 1:20.

Thanks to Terrance, who agrees if you don't hit that thing at full speed you're never gonna make it.

It's like the Rainbow Road in Mario Kart!

  • Luigi Buscemi

possibly the lamest thing ive seen all week.. and ive seen your mom

Has it been declared safe for cars or did these people just decide to be the ultimate test dummies? if not, shouldn't there be a gate or something at either end?

  • Jenness

Why only half way?! Either do it the whole way or don't do a damn video just to frustrate people. That is really annoying as hell.

  • The_Wretched

It got stuck where the ties are missing.

  • Andyman7714

So did they back up all the way back? That would be a good watch.

  • TheQiwiMan

I mean, if it supported the weight of a train, driving a car on it should be fine, right?

  • WhiteEagle2

Except for with rails attached, the weight would have been spread out more evenly across the wood beams.

With the car, the tires are putting the weight of the whole car on just two beams at a time.

  • GeneralDisorder

I don't think the capacity is the scary part. You saw how narrow it is right?

  • TheQiwiMan

Driving in a straight line is not really something I'd put on my Top 10 Most Difficult Things List tho..

  • GeneralDisorder

It's not a straight line though. It's an extremely bumpy road with no room to get out of the vehicle.

If there's too much slip the vehicle could shift either direction.

  • spikedeclue

Lol. You must not see the way people drive on the highway very much.

  • econoking

I'm assuming its a bridge they gave up on halfway, but locals figured they could put down planks and use it??

  • WhiteEagle2

In the article, GW explains that it was a train bridge before with the tracks removed.

  • Jason Christopher

So, what's the blue thing that looks like a carnival ride at about 0:38?

  • Geekologie

a carnival ride we should ride it

  • Jason Christopher

Sort of a random, sketchy location for a carnival ride.
    But I'm down, GW.

  • Geekologie

I thought you might be. I'll bring the cotton candy

  • The_Wretched

The Victim River isn't going to claim people on its own. Good thing people are stepping up to make it happen.
