The New Star Trek: Discovery's Main Title Sequence

September 25, 2017

Did you watch the new Star Trek: Discovery last night? I meant to but I forgot because I'm forgetful and I forget things. I had set a reminder on my phone but it only read 'STD' and I panicked. Anyway, this is the title sequence for the new series. Do you like it? Do you love it? Do you-- "Want some more of it?" Okay, Tim McGraw, I was going to say hate, but whatever. How does it make you feel? I want to know. Please tell me in great detail. "Well--" Okay, that's enough. Jesus, I wasn't asking for a novel.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to me, for taking a handful of ginkgo biloba this morning and finally realizing what that 'STD' meant. I'm going to be honest, I didn't sleep very well worrying about it though.

  • Deplorable Erik Dee

Star Trek:Diversity - almost as bad as the transgender ghostbusters.

  • Why do the Klingons look like Remans?

  • Oliver Guthrie

    Sort of West World-y, eh?

  • Munihausen

Was intrigued, and then the cast "took a kneee" because...vicarious feels? Leonard Nimoy is rolling in his grave.

  • Bling Nye

I highly fucking doubt Nimoy would be upset about taking a knee; I'm pretty sure if he were still around, he'd take a knee too.

"Nimoy said he drew on his own Jewish background for the role: "Spock is an alien, wherever he is. ... And that alienation is something I learned in Boston. I knew what it meant to be a member of a minority — and in some cases, an outcast minority. So I understood that aspect of the character, and I think it was helpful in playing him."

  • Munihausen

I like to think that Sir Nimoy would have been above such meaningless and bait-taking behavior. I can see him perhaps "supporting" the cast's expression of [insert_generic_dissatisfaction_wait_please_watch_out_show_too], but a saccharine and derivative cast photo? Eh......nahsomuch.

  • Kel

It was very good but I'll be Damned if I'll pay CBS to watch it.

  • kifchrismusic

the cast symbolically took a knee after...i will find something else to watch...

why is it that only vulcans have some cool hand salutation...but not the klingons, romulans, ferangis(probably spelled wrong), humans, etc...yeah, we wave and say bye, but its goodbye, bye, see ya, see ya later...etc. We have a variation on our exit salutation. Peace be with you...and with you, might be close, but it is still not globally accepted...not all humans use it. Vulcans ALL say their line, every time they exit...can you imagine?...I'm gonna go to my room long and prosper...I'm gonna go to the long and prosper. Would get kindof wierd...Spock is always accompanied by kirk or mccoy, so that exit line rule is negated.
I wonder if Rodenberry did that on purpose...or maybe I missed something.

  • Bling Nye

About the taking a knee thing...

  • kifchrismusic

You are citing ABC news...fake news...and this sounds like an editorial piece...opinion
The knee thing was to drum up ratings...and the show will flop because of it

  • Bling Nye

    "fake news"

Just like your opinion of it, this is another person's opinion on it, one that is well articulated and cuts straight to the crux of the matter.

Show won't flop because of that photo, you think too highly of yourself. Personally, I wouldn't watch it or not watch it based on that photo of them taking a knee, I'd watch or not watch based on the actual merit of the show. (Although it's a moot point, since I probably won't watch it until/if ever it comes to Netflix, because I'm not paying CBS to access it).

  • Andyman7714

Looks like a great series I will never see.

  • "This video is not available"

  • TheQiwiMan

Come live here in America! It's great here! (at least for the next 2 or 3 months)

  • But do you have Pot Noodles over there?

  • TheQiwiMan

Yes, we here on the west coast have a TON of places now that sell noodles imbued with marijuana.

  • I'm taking that as a no.

  • TheQiwiMan
  • Nicholas Conrad

    Spoiler alert!
