The Evolutionary History Of Pokemon, As A Tree Of Life

August 18, 2017

Note: Much larger version HERE, but save the image to see it in full-res.

This is the Pokemon Tree Of Life V4.0, which includes all species of pocket monster through the seventh generation. I learned a lot by studying it. Mostly, that it looks like a weed and there are a lot of Pokemon. I've very astute. I even used to work for Sherlock Homes. "You mean Holmes?" No I do not. Sherlock Homes, Oklahoma's largest new & used mobile home dealer.

Thanks to Cyndi M, who wants to know which came first, the pocket or the monster.

Many problematic classification here, for example:

Psyduck line is obviously Monotreme, based on Duck-billed Platypus, the front limbs proved that they were not birds. Magmars were highly doubtful to be birds as well, either associated with Psyducks or more like Dinosaurian or Reptilian at least

The Pika family is as suggested by its shorten name, based on actual "Pikas", which were Lagomorphs instead of Rodents. The female Nidoran also show Rodent-liked teeth structures that qualify it to be a rodent rather than an Ungulate. You can't place it there just because their final evolved form group rhinoceros-liked horns.....

Swinub as the name suggests, is a "Swine", not supposed to be associated with Elephants merely because Mamoswine looked a bit like a Mammoth, developing a feature that resembles another creature was merely convergence evolution, you can't classify species solely based on one or two exterior features.

Aipoms were actually based on Tarsiers rather than Monkeys, they should qualify to be placed as Tarsiers rather than true Monkeys.

Why is True Foxes branching off from Dog-liked Carnivores and even before the specialization of Canidae itself cause Foxes are True Canine as well, and should had ended up in the same family as True Dogs.

Onyx belongs over in the earth types with Geodude instead of over with the snakes. Total amateurs.

  • Is that a monster in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?

Someone should paint in Nurse Joys and Officer Jennys around Blissey.

Also, I didn't know Blissey was extraterrestrial. Then again I don't really follow pokemon lore. I just really enjoyed the theory that all the clone-like "cousins" are actually pokemon who were trained and transformed and don't even know they're pokemon.

Even the big version isn't very big though:/
