Sure, Why Not?: Road Built On Roof Of Five-Story Apartment Building In China

June 29, 2017

This is a video of the "highway" (it just looks like a road to me) built on top of a five-story apartment building in China (although I only counted four stories). How about that! They build pools on apartment building roofs, why not a road? Of course this really isn't news to me -- my place has had roads built on top of it for decades. "Is this the part where you try to convince us you live with the Ninja Turtles?" Why doesn't anybody believe me?!

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to hairless, who agrees a go-cart track on top of your apartment building would be a pretty sweet amenity. Same goes for a clothing-optional beach.

the road turns at other end, and connects to an actual road that loops back to road you saw on lower right..

This is the kind of thing I've only seen in the 60's "cities of the future" designs and drawings. It's actually awesome!

Asians think of the number 4 like Canadians and Americans think of the number 13, as bad luck. Just like we may not have a 13th floor but go from 12 to 14, or have the floors as 12A and 12B, they also may not have a 4th floor but go from 3rd floor to 5th floor.

Sooo, is it like an open deck for a parking garage or does it connect on the back to the regular roads via a hill?

The fifth story would be the shops and such on the "road." Haven't read the article, so I'll assume the cars must be airlifted onto the street. So convenient.
