Nintendo Announces SNES Classic Loaded With 21 Games

June 26, 2017

After the huge success of its NES Classic Edition Console, Nintendo has just announced an $80 SNES Classic Edition due out this September 29th, just in time to pay 3X retail in order to secure one before Christmas. A full list of the 21 games that come preloaded (including the previously unreleased Star Fox 2):

Contra III: The Alien Wars™

Donkey Kong Country™
Final Fantasy III
Kirby™ Super Star
Kirby's Dream Course™
The Legend of Zelda™: A Link to the Past™
Mega Man® X
Secret of Mana
Star Fox™
Star Fox™ 2
Street Fighter® II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
Super Castlevania IV™
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts®
Super Mario Kart™
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars™
Super Mario World™
Super Metroid™
Super Punch-Out!! ™
Yoshi's Island™

Admittedly, that's a pretty solid lineup. I could spend some serious hours replaying all those games. Then doing it all over again. And again. I do want to get my money's worth, after all. "You're the kind of person who steals the artificial sweetener packets at restaurants, aren't you?" Haha, what? Noooooooo. Keep an eye out I want to take the creamer too.

Thanks to Andrew S and hairless, at least one of whom better save me one of the tens of these things they buy to resell on eBay.

  • Just realized that start fox 2 is an unreleased game. Could be interesting.

    no chrono trigger?

  • Cinder Blocks

    No Chrono Trigger?

  • Phonster

Strange fact : european and american snes classic don't have the same design (as they already weren't in the 90's)

  • Crusty Old Guy

Great another console that no one will get to buy that will go for $400 on ebay.

  • Wyldstaar

Nintendo already burned their bridge as far as I'm concerned. If they had fulfilled their promise to make enough of the NES Classic to meet demand, I'd buy the SNES Classic. Since they couldn't be bothered, and then lied about the reasons why, I can't be bothered to give them anymore of my money.

Back away from the ledge, you have your whole life in front of you, etc.

  • Daniel L Charlebois

I'm sure 21 is also the number of units they will produce.

  • Munihausen

    Great lineup.

  • palpable ovaltine

If you want to get your money's worth, you could always just play all of these for free with an emulator.

    Copyright infringement, shmopyright infringement!

  • Bling Nye

Was just going to say, I've had an emulator with 100's of games... for free... since like, 2006... I'm surprised they only put 21 games on it and it costs $80. Lame.
