Feeding Frenzy: Guy Tosses Small Tuna To A School Of Predatory Giant Trevally

May 16, 2017

This is a short video of a fisherman tossing a small tuna he caught to a school of giant trevally (sometimes called giant piranhas despite the face they're unrelated besides both being fish -- they're not even in the same order of scientific classification). A veritable feeding frenzy ensues. Not for long though, they devour the whole thing in like thirty seconds. For reference, I could not have eaten that fish so quickly, although one time I did eat two McDonald's Filet-O-Fishes in under a minute because my dad bet me a McFlurry I couldn't do it. Obviously, my mom was out of town on business that weekend. Same goes for the weekend my dad let me jump off the roof with a trash bag parachute. At least the girl I liked at school signed all my casts.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to HV, who agrees this is exactly why you never bring a tuna to a trevally school on show-and-tell day.

I think that the scariest thing is that the people were laughing about this show...

Given the right circumstances, they'd easily be chomping at your innards, so to laugh about this is to truly look death in the hood and laugh at it...

    fuck the ocean

  • Shooting Thepast

That tuna hadn't even hit the water when they were on it...

Darwin is coming, that's something you simply shouldn't do so close to your dock. Obviously not the first time they've done this. Perhaps if they make an offering to these fish, they won't attack later on in the day.

  • Kateness

    They didn't say grace.

  • Andyman7714

They were moving on it the moment it left his hand! Holy shit!

The post copy started off oddly intelligent with a diversion to discuss the scientific classification of the fish then looped back to the randomness we all love of Geekologie Writer.

  • Meh

I"m still amazed i can't kill some human and throw him in the ocean but this is alright.

  • The_Wretched

Well....those fish were trained to bite. I'm not saying they are used for human disposal but I wouldn't be surprised if they were.

  • GeneralDisorder

I think the important thing about killing humans and feeding their corpses to fish is you have to make sure you don't accidentally poisoning the fish. And some humans have things like family, value to society, etc. So you have to make sure you kill someone who has no family nor value to society.

Oh, and there's this law thing that says you aren't allowed to do that.

  • Meh

My point, someone abuses animals, he'll 99% get away with it. But kill a human animal and somewhat I'm told that is worse? Really humans should get less rights, animals more.

  • GeneralDisorder

Things like fish have less complex central nervous systems and as far as we can tell don't feel pain the same way mammals do.

That said, yeah, it's pretty shitty to just toss a gutted fish into the middle of a feeding frenzy.

  • The_Wretched

Fish have spinal cord and complex brains, it's enough to feel pair more or less exactly like we do.

  • Meh

I'm not sure how that is of any value - the workings of an animals nerve center. Life is life, and if you ask me humans are the shittiest species on this planet, apart from spiders, jellyfish and bees.

  • GeneralDisorder

I personally don't object to eating intelligent animals.

I do think if you hunt you should do it for meat not for trophies. If you hunt for meat and keep a trophy like antlers, hides, etc that's fine.

If you trap for fur you're kind of a dick but at least you're using what you kill.

If you fish so that you can gut that fish and toss it to a bunch of ravenous monsters that's a dick move too.

  • Meh

I fully agree, just that with that logic volunteered cannibalism should be acceptable as well, yet humans think our species is great, when all we are is a species that happened to grow a thumb.

  • GeneralDisorder

We're also a species that used intelligence as an evolutionary advantage. We're the only species to cultivate multiple species of plants, to domesticate multiple species of animals, etc.

Side note: I don't object to cannibalism. I firmly believe morals are subjective. The only reason not to eat human often is that you can catch degenerative diseases from exposure to uncooked human flesh.

  • The_Wretched

Humans are loaded up with carcinogens and toxic chemicals. Especially smokers and people who eat a lot of animal fat. And then there's the drug metabolites...

  • Meh

And considering what we eat we probably taste terrible. All those things, and more of less the entire human species started with the thumb, so we could actually handle something like a spear or whatever. And a somewhat bigger brain but still. Not at all worth preserving in our current numbers.

You might like the video from YouTuber DarkMatter2525 called "Always Cry Wolf". The guy could use better voice actors but the animation and story are top notch.
