Why Would You Do That?: Guy Builds Robot That Constantly Tries To Shoot A Laser In Your Eyes

April 19, 2017

Note: Some colorful language, like a rainbow.

This is a video of the robot built by Youtuber Michael Reeves that constantly tries to blind you with a laser pointer. He constructed the robot (which speaks in the voice of the turrets from Portal 2 "in an attempt to make it less creepy, but as you can hear it made it like, ten times creepier") using a webcam, some custom face-tracking software he coded, and a servo-controlled laser pointer, all mounted in a cardboard pizza box. I don't know about you, but that is not a pizza I want delivered. "So should I make your order for pickup?" What? No -- I don't want a blinding laser pointer pizza. As a matter of fact, I don't think I'm in the mood for pizza at all. Tell me, how big are your calzones? "Why don't you ask your girlfriend?" Huh? "Wait, did you say calzones or cojones?" You know what, forget it, I'm walking to Taco Bell.

Keep going the video, but feel free to skip around if playful banter isn't your thing.

Always. ALWAYS think about yall queda or your fav political idiot + boston dynamics robots + armed drones. Now add in 'you're blinded' to the mix.

    This kid's going places! :-D

Yes, starting with an Ophthalmologist to have his corneas sewn back on

  • Draco Basileus

I want him to invent a robot that kicks you in the balls when you look at it. It'll be the grand prize for America's Funniest Videos...

Now pair this with the knife wielding tentacle box, http://geekologie.com/2015/...
...and we may be on to something...

  • GeneralDisorder

I think the next logical step is the pistol wielding tentacle with laser sight. Gonna need a large tentacle so it can carry a lot of ammunition. In fact if we can make the whole thing belt fed like the GAU8 but on a smaller scale that'd solve the capacity and weight problem.

The over the top self-agrandizing insulting parts were spot on.
