Reading Chairs With Exterior Bookshelves

April 5, 2017

These are the $2,950 Library Bookcase Chairs handcrafted and sold by Etsy shop TheLibraryChair (previously: an almost identical concept with a different design). They're chairs with 27-feet of bookshelf space around the exterior. Now you can burn your old bookshelf and put up a dartboard! Product details while I try to turn my IKEA loveseat into a corner sectional with particleboard and a nailgun:

Very comfortable deep seat, perfect for sitting and reading, enveloped by your library!

Secret compartment under seat, accessed from behind bottom shelf books, for hiding away those extra special things. On rolling castors for easy movement.

Can be upholstered in any material and painted in any color. Stained veneer surface available on top at additional cost.

Nice, it has a secret compartment. Secret compartments are important to me. Also? Secret handshakes. Here, I designed a special one just for you and me. *lengthy secret handshake* Well, what did you think? "Don't ever put my fingers in your mouth again." My tongue likes your pinky!

Keep going for a couple different fabrics.

Thanks to Cyndi, who built a functional chair by glueing now-nonfunctional books together. Everything requires sacrifice.

Great for today's homeowner who likes brushing up against things and sending books flying everywhere.

  • Cold hard top surface, no recline, thin padding, overly tall height to width ratio, requires about 200 books of exact height or it looks dumb af? Yep... just what the market demands in a 3 thousand dollar chair!

  • Waste of design I agree, no consideration for COMICS & GRAPHIC NOVELS?!?!?

    But it's meta?

  • The_Wretched

I couldn't sit in that "chair". Does anyone who makes these sorts of things actually bother to sit on their "chairs"?

  • TheQiwiMan

Bet I could make these for much less than $3K. Time to introduce some Free Market competition!

  • Bling Nye

If you look at their Etsy page, they've had 2 sales in 4 years.
