The Hupfeld Phonoliszt-Violina: A Player Piano That Also Plays Three Violins

March 9, 2017

These are several video demonstrations of the Hupfeld Phonoliszt-Violina, a combination of a player piano as well as three violins that are are played using a rotating circular bow and a bunch of robotic fingers to press the strings. Apparently it was all the rage at the World's Exhibition Of 1910 held in Brussels, Belgium. And I can see why, I'm still amazed and 1910 was like, what, almost ten years ago? "Try a hundred." WHERE'S MY FLYING CAR?!

Keep going for the videos.

Thanks to Lucas Almighty, who agrees this thing is just a cowbell and triangle away from a whole band.

One can be yours for the low, low price of $885,000. Not sketchy at all that it's being sold on a site called 1stdibs.

The next time someone wants to brag to me about how much beer they can drink before puking or passing out, I'm kicking them in the nuts.
    This thing is mind-blowing.

What was stopping you from kicking them in the nuts before seeing this?

And we think we are soo sophisticated, smart, advanced & fancy now but really, there have been magic genius people doing things that were so ahead of their time that even now we see their contributions and are still totally blown away. Incredible.
