Man Sings Star Wars Tune To Get Pedestrians To Move Out Of The Bike Lane On Bridge

March 24, 2017

This is a video of an unknown bicyclist singing 'You're In The Bike Lane' in the style of the Star Wars theme to let pedestrians on the Brooklyn Bridge know that they're -- you guessed it -- walking in the designated bike lane. Although I don't know what the big deal is, I always thought designated lanes were more of a suggestion than a rule, like not driving on the sidewalk. "You drive on the sidewalk?" You bet your 'Holy shit watch out for that jogger' I do. "Do you even have a license?" No, I have something better. "This is an old Blockbuster card with your picture taped to it. And....are these postage stamps?" It's a passport too.

Hit the jump for the video.

Thanks to Marissa, who agrees the best way to get pedestrians to move out of the bike lane is a car horn.

new york is probably the third worst place in the world after paris and the literal molten nickel center of the earh

  • Adibobea9

There are way too many people. Is this normal or are they going on some pilgrimage…

welcome to new york city, country blumpkin

So maybe this is regional, or maybe I'm that guy. But in the (much smaller) city where I live, the bike lanes are for pedestrians too. Your choices on bridges are the road, the 'bike' lane, or a 50' fall onto another road.

arround 1:43 there is a clear sign about Walk/Bike lanes.

  • Ollie Williams

I'd probably just start plowing into people, honestly. But then again, I'm an asshole, so this is probably more effective.

honestly you're kinda a d-bag for riding your bike on the brooklyn bridge. real bikers take the manhattan bridge... it's like 5 feet away and no tourists.

  • GeneralDisorder

I don't know what's worse. Being the d-bag who stands and stares in the well marked bike lane while people are trying to ride or being the d-bag who didn't want to ride the extra distance to get to a less touristy bridge.

Most frustrating how the close right back up despite another bike 4 feet behind him.

I commute by bike or skateboard. Amazing how many people think I'm the asshole trying to use the bike lane and not be killed by cars or run into pedestrians. How dare I travel swiftly, alleviate traffic, get exercise, see my city up close, and avoid burning fossil fuels!?

Dude's gunna thrash his voice. He needs to just record his awesome song once and then play it loudly on speakers attached to his bike.

  • Jack Humphrey

That's a pretty positive way to deal with a frustrating situation. Amazing how many people seemed to respond as if he was the nuisance as they staunchly stayed in his way.
