Transforming Ceiling Fan With Blades That Spin Out When It Gets Up To Speed

February 13, 2017

This is a video demonstration of the $500 Fanimation Air Shadow ceiling fan. It's a ceiling fan with blades that remain retracted until it gets up to speed, at which point they spread out to do their thing (move air). It's the perfect fan for a bedroom with two double beds (like mine), that way you can turn it off and you and your lover won't hit your heads on the blades when you're jumping from bed to bed playing booger fingers. "Do I want to know?" No you do not.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to Gill, who wants a fan with boat paddles for blades in his nautical themed rumpus room.

  • "Fanimation" - that's the name they went with?
They sat down, thought long and hard, and came up with that as the winner.

So... it's a fan that doesn't do dick until it's at speed then it slows down due to the sudden added resistance. Brilliant!

  • HAL-9000

This fan has been around for decades. My son wants one really bad. It is a copy of a fan from the 1930s. Seriously.

  • Jenness

Screw that, fans are scary enough as it is w/out now worrying about those suddenly winging out when you are trying to change a lightbulb and decapitating you.

    I prefer the fanaway.
