It Happened: Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over Lazy Dog

January 20, 2017

This is a video of a quick brown fox jumping over a lazy dog. Did you know 'the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog' is a pangram (a sentence that uses every letter in the alphabet at least once) originally used to display different typefaces? I bet you did know that, you are a smart cookie. Me? I am a shitty old pretzel stick.

Keep going for the full video with lots of bonus playing.

Thanks to blue16, who prefers 'pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs' and 'the five boxing wizards jump quickly', both of which I would also like to see.

  • To learn typing, you can now play a game where the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy frogs and dogs plus tries to locate all diamonds and food.

"The quick rEd fox jumps over the lazy brown dog"
This uses every letter in the alphabet and was used to test typewriters etc.
It could be a 'red' dog in this clip, but red is needed as the only word with the letter E in it.
    GrammarNazi out.

  • asdfadfs

    red adds nothing to this

  • Deksam

"thE & ovEr" "red" is not needed it seems.

Quick fox jumps over the lazy brown dog.

Done in Times New Roman font here.

  • "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"
There is your E - twice!
    You're a shit Grammar Nazi.

  • Terrance McSpinna

No, I am the shit. I hate Nazis, especially those from Illinois.
Thank you for exposing you'reselves as the grammer nazis i new wore out their lurking.

Cheers~! Kent, AtheistGirl, Mick, asdadfs, deksam torrac

    Stop appropriating blackcat culture.
Your religion of negation has left your mind weak and porous. You're getting a little lackadaisical in your attempts at a rebuttal. As such, I must retort with something you have the intellectual capacity to understand.

  • Annwyl Syr, yr wyf yn gwrtais gofyn i chi ffyc dde oddi ar.

  • Kent

There is already an "e" in "over". "The" is needed for the "t" and "h".

  • So that's 3.
These Grammar Nazis are getting worse.

  • Mick

The is in there twice. 4 E now. The world is burning.

  • Andyman7714

My understanding is that sentence was used for typing exercises. You you actually have to hit every letter on the NO I'M NOT OLD GET OUT OF MY YARD!

  • Too much cute today.
    I may explode.

  • The Magnificent Newtboy

That full video is such a lovely slow happy summer scene. Very nice.

  • asdfadfs

this is how foxen hunt dogs, act all friendly and eventually they'll get the dog to follow it into the woods for ambush where the poor trusting thing is jumped by a whole bunch of them and torn apart

  • Deksam

For cats, they grab a kitten and make the mom cat chase after it, then the ambush in the bushes, I have actually seen that happen.

  • asdfadfs

    dog insufficiently lazy.

just stands there not sprawled out laying down acting like even just shifting his eyes to track movement is a massive demand on his energy. may as well post a red fox jumping over a sleeping bassethound, or a quick brown goat jumping over the lazy dog. close only counts in horseshoes and any other activity exam or task that gives partial credit of which this is not one

  • DrZanz

In full agreement. To add to that, I wouldn't consider this to be a particularly quick fox. It also has to attempt the 'jump' more than once and it ends up as more of a lazy scramble.

In summary, we got this close:
"The slow, lazy fox climbs over the standing dog."
    No. Not impressed.
