A Creepy, Abandoned Westworld-Like Amusement Park In Japan

January 19, 2017

These are the shots of the now abandoned Western Village Old West Amusement Park taken by Tokyo Times photographer Lee Chapman. The park, which is a few hours north of Tokyo, opened in the 70's but closed in 2006, presumably because the hosts didn't live up to consumer expectations. You should have gotten Dr. Ford and Arnold on that shit! These are all Westworld references, by the way. I'm only on episode six though so don't ruin anything for me. "The people that populate the park are actually very realistic robots." What?! *smashes DVR* I knew there was something weird about them! "You learn that in the first minute of the show. People who haven't even watched the show already know that." Listen: I'm not very perceptive if that's what you're asking.

Keep going for a handful more shots.

Thanks to Joseph A, who visited Westworld and didn't do anything but sleep for three days. Hey, everybody vacations differently.

Hmm...doesn't look like anything to me.

  • They still have like whiskey on the counter? I always think it so weird when they just close things and like, don't even clean up/reuse/sell the shit they have. It's just completely abandoned. Super creepy. Also westworld is fucking boring.

Is it Kirk Douglas with the bow tie?

I sense a trap. The fact it's the gunslinger from Westworld 1973 intrigues me, however I fear Futureworld is not nearly as good. I didn't even know about it.

  • It is nowhere near as good.
    It's quite awful.

  • TheDR

    Wow, it's a Trump simulator!

  • Bling Nye

    Westworld version 1.0

  • Emmitt Morgans

    So... the show is 3.0?

Actually... there's also Futureworld and Beyond Westworld... so 5.0?
