Lexus Covers Car With 42,000 Programmable LEDs

December 6, 2016

This is the one-of-a-kind Lexus LIT IS, a vehicle covered with 41,999 programmable LEDs that can display animations, respond to hand gestures, or act as a giant visualizer for whatever song is playing inside the car. For reference, my car only has one headlight that works. The LIT required a whole mile (5,280-feet) of wire to string all the LEDs together. For reference, my car required two entire rolls of duct tape to keep the bumper from dragging on the road. Still, when it comes to picking up chicks, I think we all know who's car is sweeter. "The Lexus, right?" Jesus, of course the Lexus, that wasn't a trick question. My car is probably on fire right now.

Keep going for a video demo as well as the car featured in a weird ass music video.

Thanks to n0nentity and Sam, who agree LED cars are cool, but lasers are where it's really at.

  • This is excellent auto and exceptionally overhauled with the drove that can show activity’s, react to hand signals, or go about as a monster visualizer for whatever tune is playing inside the auto. a debt of gratitude is in order for such an awesome auto.

    I can't afford a car, I live in my mother's vagina.

How can something with that many LEDs on it be so inherently ugly? It's like the people controlling it were all colourblind.

Flame decals/designs will be so much better with this

I'm mildly disappointed Daft Punk didn't step out of it. Then again, I'd be mildly disappointed if they did.

Selling your anus for crack cocaine isn't something you should be boasting about in this comments section.

You know how it's possible to 'fake' invisibility by displaying what's on the other side of an object? Camera on one side, screen on the other, voila, hole in your chest.

This car looks like the 8-bit version being able to do something like that.

I'm waiting for the flexible displays that are coming, and then covering a car with those...

  • GeneralDisorder

You could easily camouflage with this. The primary goal of camo is not to hide but to make the outline difficult to figure out.

I want to slap one more LED on there, just so it's an even 42,000. This bothers me.

  • Geekologie

    I thought the same thing

  • Gingerbread

This is a direct offense to people with OCD

  • dougfunnay

but what if the designers compulsion is to create groups of things that end in 999?

  • Jon

Well if nothing else it will be good at hunting crabs...
