Queen's 'We Will Rock You', The Rarer Faster Version

October 19, 2016

This is a faster version of Queen's 'We Will Rock You' recorded in the mid 70's for the BBC. It's being released as part of 'Queen on Air: The Complete BBC Sessions', a 24-song set available November 4th (available for pre-order from the band's site HERE). Apparently the band also played the faster version in concert several times (video of that after the jump as well). I can't decide which one I like better. And you know what you have to do when you have to pick one of something but can't decide. "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe." Exactly, it's the only fair way.

Keep going for the lyric video, as well as the fast song performed live in Montreal.

Thanks to my good pal/mortal enemy Terry, who I have every intention of making sing at the end of my ninja sword one day.

  • Jan Bergström

I've been having this version in my iPod for like 8 years. And this is not the complete version. The full version has a "slow" part as intro, then a monologue about Buddha follows. Finally the "fast" version plays.

  • Doombah

This feels like something that they would have put out about a years later. Maybe something off of The Works or Hot Space. I dig it!

  • Wiley

This version is definitely acceptable, but the 'stomp stomp clap' longer build up is more creative and way more hype for my ears. Glad I got to hear this version though, hadn't before.

  • GeneralDisorder

This has an Alice Cooper feel to it. Or a Billie Idol perhaps.

  • Jeedai Infidel

Kind of a Alice Cooper meets Rocky Horror Picture Show vibe.

  • Andyman7714

I consider them two separate songs and I really like them both. However, the original album version has one of the best guitar solos ever recorded. Amen.

  • Iceman

I would like to know how much bpm's they both are. It doesn't seem that much faster, just fuller in music and Freddy times differently.

  • Bobby Clark

Actually a tad bit slower, but performed in double-time. Reminds me alot of Led Zeppelin.

  • TheQiwiMan

Cool, but I like the slow version more.

  • Mike Harper

I like that much better than the slow version.

  • Strong disagree.
