Fisherman Catches Fish With Huge Healed Bite Out Of It

September 27, 2016

These are a couple shots of the 18.5-inch summer flounder (aka fluke) that New Jersey angler Edward Grant recently caught in Raritan Bay while fishing with some buddies and guzzling beer. As you can see, it had a huge bite taken out of it at some point in time, but managed to escape and completely heal. I don't know if I could have done it if I were that fish. I think I would have given up. "Just finish me off, big fish" I would have said while I bled and drifted to the bottom of the bay. Edward decided to toss the fish back since "it had been through enough already and deserved to live." Happy endings. No word what the fish had to give to Ursula for her healing services, but I did hear she needed a cauldron full of fish penises for a beauty spell.

Keep going for one more shot.

Thanks to Sean, who's convinced Old Gregg took that bite.

I wonder if it tasted like Bailey's...

Lucky for the flounder, that part of its anatomy doesn't have any essential organs (the organs stop just a few cm in front of the bite). For most other fish, that would surely have been fatal.

But did YOU get bitten and live long enough for it to heal?

Yay! Good guy Fisherman, letting the poor thing live a bit longer.
