Man Waits 10 Days At Airport To Meet Internet Girlfriend, She Doesn't Show

August 3, 2016

41-year old Alexander Cirk from Holland flew 5,000 miles to the Changsha airport in China to meet his 26-year old internet girlfriend of two months, Zhang. He lived at the airport for ten days waiting for her, before having to be hospitalized due to physical exhaustion. Wow. It's a story as old as time and twice as romantic as Romeo and Juliet.

But Zhang says we shouldn't be too quick to judge her. She says she and Cirk had talked about waiting a year before meeting, so she was caught off guard by his arrival, Shanghaiist reports.

She says Cirk had "seemed a little callous towards me," so when he sent her photos of his plane tickets, "I thought it was a joke." In fact, when Cirk arrived at Changsha, Zhang was in another province having cosmetic surgery.

She says that's why he wasn't able to reach her. But despite what appears to be an extreme case of miscommunication, Zhang says she is still interested in continuing her relationship with Cirk.

Hmm, you think she wants to wait a year to meet to give herself time to complete her cosmetic surgery transformation? I feel like there's something fishy going on here. And what photos did Alexander send of himself because I'm pretty sure he's not what anybody would describe as easy on the eyes. Anyways, after her surgeries I hope Zhang ends up looking like all the fake photos she's been sending and they can live happily ever after.

Keep going for a couple more shots of Zhang and one of Alexander recovering in the hospital.

Thanks to E.V.I.L.A.R.E.S., who's so evil he probably is Zhang.

    Holy shit he's a redneck.

This breaks my heart. Poor guy. I have a feeling this could just be a big catfishing scheme. Is that what they're called? W/e. Waiting ten days... his heart must be in pieces.

TF? they had known each other for only 2 months and she didn't want to meet for a year. Catfish? Maybe. Heartbreaking? Not by a long stretch. Dude could not keep his creep factor in check.

what's heart breaking is his apparent disconnect, his apparent belief that this was some true love thing and he waited all that time just to see her. sure, it's creepy to an outsider, but i imagine it from his perspective and it's heartbreaking to me. i doubt he's going out of his way to be creepy. he's probably very lonely. he meets someone online and makes what he perceives as a strong connection. so strong (for him) that he is hospitalized from waiting for her. her perspective it may just be a catfishing scheme. from our perspective it could be oh he's weird and creepy. but to him, in his view, it meant something. she was important to him. he wanted to meet her. he believes in her. whatever the end case is, based on what i read it breaks my heart. maybe cause I could see myself in a similar position, of desperation for love and acceptance. look beneath the surface. it's tragic. to me.

I can't understand what went wrong? How could an old diabetic Dutch dude and transgender pre-op (now post-op) living in Asia who have nothing in common except messaging each other with lies and incomplete communications not make it work?

  • jrose

Those three ladies in the hospital are perfectly acceptable, and two of them are even willing to touch this guy. Dude should count his blessings.
