Artist Builds Tiny Beautiful Floating Worlds In Test Tubes

August 3, 2016

This is Micro Matter, a series of miniature worlds built and placed in test tubes by Dutch artist Rosa de Jong. Pretty magical, right? I love miniatures. Unfortunately, I don't have the hand-eye coordination to make any myself. I used to be into model trains, but they all had to be the size of those trains little kids ride at amusement parks. Rosa is currently in the process of setting up an online store so you go HERE and sign up to be notified when it's up if you're interesting in purchasing a Micro Matter in the future. Me? I want to buy one IN THE PAST. *plays Song Of Time on ocarina* Did anything happen? Man, never buy a magical ocarina from a guy in the parking lot at Target. Did I tell you I tried to build a ship in a bottle once? "But got your penis stuck?" So I did tell you. "I just figured." But what if I told you it's still stuck three years later? I can't tell you how many times I've stood in the garage ready to swing a hammer but chickened out.

Keep going for a whole bunch more.

Thanks to Alan, who once built a ship in a graduated cylinder but still failed because it was chemistry, not art class.
