Nintendo Releasing Miniature NES With 30 Onboard Games In Time For The Holidays

This is the $60 'Nintendo Classic Mini Edition', a miniature Nintendo with 30 games installed that connects to your television via HDMI cable. It drops November 11th (just in time for Christmas lists) and comes with a single controller (that's also Wii and Wii U compatible when plugged into a Wiimote) although you can buy another for $10. You can buy two more for $20 but there won't be a place to plug in the third so that person will just have to PRETEND they're playing Nintendo like me and my brother used to make my little sister do. The games included on the system:

Balloon Fight
BUBBLE BOBBLE
Castlevania
Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
DOUBLE DRAGON II: THE REVENGE
Dr. Mario
Excitebike
FINAL FANTASY
Galaga
GHOSTS'N GOBLINS
GRADIUS
Ice Climber
Kid Icarus
Kirby's Adventure
Mario Bros.
MEGA MAN 2
Metroid
NINJA GAIDEN
PAC-MAN
Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
StarTropics
SUPER C
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 2
Super Mario Bros. 3
TECMO BOWL
The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Admittedly, that's a pretty solid game lineup. I could see getting a lot of playtime out of this system. Unfortunately, I don't have a television that accepts HDMI cables. My TV is kind of oldschool. "That's a chalkboard." YEP. I have to draw my own Saturday morning cartoons. Can you tell that's a Pokemon?

Keep going for a shot of the packaging if you have a packaging fetish. Oohlala, boxes.

Thanks to Gregory, who refuses to play any Nintendo games that blowing on the cartridges isn't part of the experience. Ooooh, a purist.

No adventure island?????? Thats just crazy!

  • Wouldn't be too hard to take the shell off and stuff a Raspberry Pi in there, then load every NES game onto it. Getting the controller to work should be pretty easy as well if it plugs into a Wiimote, since those are easily pairable via bluetooth.

  • Sorry but 60$ is way too much. Shame, as I like the idea!

  • Mr. Popo

Plot twist: this is actually the NX console.

  • Wouldn't THAT be interesting!

  • autumndawnzz

OMG! How am I going to survive without Tetris and Q*bert?

  • Andrew Newton

Switch out Zelda II and Castlevania II with Battletoads and DuckTales and you've got an even better line up.

  • Jason Rubine

Super C, but no Contra, come on.

  • NES__still_the_best

And Tecmo Bowl instead of Tecmo Super Bowl.

  • Ollie Williams

Anyone know if you can somehow put more games on it, or if it also plays cartridge games?

  • Daniel L Charlebois

    It doesn't do either.

  • Ollie Williams

Bummer. There are a lot of great games that are missing, such as what Jason suggested above. How do you leave out Contra!?
