This is a worthwhile video of artist Garip Ay recreated Van Gogh's 'A Starry Night' by splattering and swirling and dripping paint on top a pool of black-painted water. Then he swirls the finished painting into oblivion and recreates a Van Gogh self portrait atop the previous starry night using the same technique. Some people are so talented and creative. My artist friends? Just awful. I went to a gallery showing of my buddy's work the other week and all he'd done is bought a bunch of people's old slide projector slides from the thrift store, poked a bunch of random holes in them with a needle, then projected them one-by-one on a wall of the gallery with eerie music playing in the background. I'm not even kidding. I promised not to tell his parents where the $120,000 they spent sending him to art school went, but he better get his shit together and start producing some tasteful nudes pronto.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to William S, who tried to recreate Picasso's Les Demoiselles d'Avignon in a kiddy pool in his front yard using the same technique before giving up and hopping in there with a couple ice-cold beers to watch traffic go by.
