Danica McKeller (Wonder Years' Winnie Cooper) Discusses How She Went From Child Actress To Mathematician

June 7, 2016

This is a video from the PBS series 'The Secret Life Of Scientists & Engineers' highlighting Danica McKellar's transition from Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years to mathematician and promoter of girls pursuing educations in math and science. After The Wonder Years, Danica graduated summa cum laude with a math degree from UCLA, and has since authored several math books for girls, and co-authored a research paper and proven a new theorem: Percolation and Gibbs states multiplicity for ferromagnetic Ashkin-Teller Models on Z2. I don't even know what that means, but it makes me love her even more than I did when she was Winnie Cooper, which was already with all my heart. She was my first crush, and will probably be my last. Especially after my girlfriend reads this and runs me through with the ninja sword she keeps by the side of the bed. "DANICA McKELLAR, HUH?!" I imagine her snarling as she watches the life drain from my eyes and my TMNT sheets run crimson.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to Stephanie B, who agrees the world needs more Danicas and way less the majority of other childhood stars who wreck their lives to shit.
