A Brief History Of The Origin Of Video Game Easter Eggs

This is a video detailing the origin of the video game Easter Egg, a tale that goes back to 1980 and the release of Adventure for the Atari 2600. Apparently Atari treated their employees like shit and game designer Warren Robinett decided to fight back by hiding his name in a secret room in the game. Passive-aggressiveness wins again! Also, treating your employees like shit: looks like it's really worked out well for Atari. I heard their latest console is the tits.

Keep going for the video.

That guy is using the joystick 90 degrees wrong, no?

  • JimmyJam

180 degrees, really. Button should be in the upper left corner, and the joystick in the right hand. That really threw me, too.

  • Spiffman Space

Yup 180, I agree, although now I'm thinking that could there have been a lefty mode for, you know, freaks.

    There's nothing to see here!
