Stuntman Backflips Over Speeding Formula E Race Car

April 19, 2016

This is a video of freerunner, gymnast and stuntman Damien Walters backflipping over a speeding Formula E race car (Formula E cars are all electric). It also shows all the prep that went into the stunt. It's weird to think that even with all that prep that this video was still only hundredths of a second away from being a video of a guy getting hit by a race car.

Keep going for two videos, the second of which is a 360-degree pannable version.

Thanks to Greg M, who tried to jump over me pulling a Radio Flyer wagon but landed in the wagon. Then we went for ice cream.

Fake. I'm an illusionist and used to debunk internet bs videos. Got tired of that, but this one made me do it again! Here is how I know

  • So.... he did it! Now.... he is a cool guy? Did we learn anything? Prove anything? What was in it for anyone involved?

100% advertising for Formula E, the sponsors of the vehicle used (note the close up on a couple of 'em), as well as exposure for a stuntman looking for further employment stuntmanning.

    TL, jumped to 255.

This is one of those instances, where it would best to use cgi…

    Where's Daisy?

  • Leeroy

If you listen real close you can hear his balls of steel clank together during the flip.

  • MinjaMike

    I heard them

  • asdfadfs

thats easy. the car is low and moving very quickly, as long as he jumps within a certain range hes fine. jumping over a slower moving bull is much more impressive. like the minoans did

  • Vagabond Spaceman

Well, sure it's easy PHYSICALLY, considering it's still a standard back-flip, but the room for error is astronomically minimal considering the added elements. And no, jumping over a slow animal isn't more impressive.

  • asdfadfs

the margin of error with the bull is way smaller, its taller so you need to jump higher and the car passes quickly enough your risk of hitting the back of it is much lower as long as you cleared the front(the bull you'd just barely make it if you jump right, the car its only timing). also the car is less likely to turn around and finish you off if you manage to survive getting clipped and the driver is presumably cooperating with the stunt.

You'd only screw that up once...
