This is the CoyoteVest, a vest for dogs up to 20 pounds that was designed to help prevent attacks from predators (i.e. coyotes). I have a small dog and there are coyote warning signs up around my neighborhood but I've never actually seen one in real life because they know better than to come after my dog because she's always on a leash plus I have a coyote stew recipe I've been itching to try.
The neck is studded with twelve 1″ spikes, embedded in a stiff but flexible triple laminated Kevlar collar. The rest of the body has a "stab-resistant layer of Kevlar body armor that can resist sharp canine teeth." If that isn't enough, there's an optional set of quills that you can stick on the back of your dog.
Hey, whatever works. Prices start around $110 and there's even an option for a CoyoteZapper, which allows you to shock anything biting your pet with the push of a button. Hopefully it also works on people trying to pet your dog at the park too.
Keep going for a couple more shots.
Thanks to Dave D, who protects his small dog the old fashioned way: with a much larger dog.
