Plant Lamps Designed For Rooms Without Windows

March 14, 2016

Two lamp posts in a row! It's going to be that kind of day. These are the Mygdal Plantlights designed by Studio We Love Eames. They were created to bring some of the outdoors into windowless rooms. Alternatively, move out of the basement. You can borrow my truck.

It doesn't require any human care like ventilation or irrigation. The plant light makes use of the physical similarity between Led and sunlight. Thus, the plants can perform photosynthesis.

The luminaire is a completely self-sustaining ecosystem where the plants can grow undisturbed for years. The standing lamp provides a new type of electrically conductive glass coating (patent requested), which is able to stream the electricity invisible along the surface. There is no longer a cable connection between the power source and the Led necessary.

Wait -- the plants don't need water? How do they not need water? Are these space plants? I want a space plant. I also want a space pet. Maybe a tribble? No, not a tribble, I'd wind up spending a fortune on tribble chow. Maybe I'll just put an astronaut helmet on my dog. Nope, she doesn't like that idea. Plan B: give up on dream of owning a space pet.

Keep going for a couple more shots.

Thanks to Bradley, who had one of those glass sphere water ecosystems with the little shrimps in it but everything died when I mistook it for a snow globe and shook it too hard. That was my bad but I cannot afford to buy you another one.
