Impressive: Real-Time Face Capture And Reenactment

March 23, 2016

This is a video of Face2Face, a program developed to add the real-time facial expressions of an actor to the face of someone else. The actor input video is captured via a standard webcam, and the results are surprisingly accurate. Obviously, this will be the basis of all future political smear campaigns. Plus, as Hedonistica pointed out, celebrity sex videos. The future is looking bright.

Hit the jump for the video. Also, inb4 'There's no need to fake anything Donald Trump says'.

Thanks to Josh, who agrees what a time it is to be alive.

time to invent make-up that prevent face tracking or find a new way to deliver speeches

  • I do agree it is a time to be alive!

  • Emmitt Morgans

So when are we going to see a "Special Edition" of Forrest Gump using this technology? Those modified vintage footage sequences have NOT aged well...

  • The_Wretched

So pretty much anyone in a video cap can be faked to be saying pretty much anything. I can't begin to imagine what this might do for the pron industry.

  • Jenness

I'm curious as to why this was invented if only for evil. I can't think of a single non-evil use for this at all.

  • timeiskey

    remote digital sex

  • Meak

Match the lips when translating a movie ?

  • Billy Avenue

well you sir have found the ONLY non-evil use for this tech. good job.

  • The Magnificent Newtboy

That's a really good idea. You could make amazingly good dubbed movies that way.

  • Emmitt Morgans

If this starts being used regularly for such purposes, I have a feeling we're going to see a lot of movies that look like an old Conan O'Brien fake celebrity interview sketch.

  • Hazakabammer

    Yep. None at all.

  • Nico Horst

I don't know what to believe anymore....

  • Mr. Roboto

This couldn't possibly ever be abused!

  • Mr.4maldehyde

Uncanny. And by that I mean straight out of Uncanny Valley.
