Good To Know: Sounds Of Decaying Finger And Dead Bird

March 3, 2016

This is a video from a recent exposition by the Verbeke Foundation in Kemzeke, Belgium. As part of the installation, they've hooked up a decaying human finger and a dead parakeet to voltmeters that translate the readings into freaky deaky background music. You get to listen to that while taking a tour of the other exhibits. Now you'll be able to add phrases like, "Sounds like a cross between a decaying finger and a dead bird," to your witty conversations at cocktails parties. Obviously, you will be the most interesting person at the party, and I will try to come home with you, or at least make out in a closet or bathroom before you leave.

Keep going for the creepy video.

Thanks to Neils, who already knew what the sound of a decaying finger sounds like for reasons I did not choose to ask.

And that's why old sci-fi and horror films had the theremin music in the background. They're surrounded by dead things.

and no one asks where they got this finger?

  • DANGIT! I had been drawing up schematics for this very thing, and once again Belgium beats me to the punch!!!

And for the the extra cost of a VIP ticket, they will kidnap young travelers from a Hostel and have them strapped to a chair in the basement, where you can do whatever you want to the them.

  • Oh, those crazy Belgians!
This is why we love them.

  • Aalok

    I love Belgian chocolate.

Dammit, Belgium. You know this wasn't needed in the world, but you did it anyway.

Belgium needed more affection from its parents as a kid.
