Free Labor: Rocking Chair That Knits A Hat As You Rock

March 31, 2016

This is the Rocking-Knit, the brainchild of former art and design students Damien Ludi and Colin Peillex. It uses the rocking motion of the chair to knit a hat while you relax, preferably with a lemonade or iced tea in hand. Rocking without a lemonade or ice tea in hand is like riding a roller coaster without your hands in the air. You are not getting the FULL EXPERIENCE. "What if I don't like lemonade or ice tea?" Then get a beer or cocktail. Shit, I don't know, get a Capri Sun pouch, what are you, five?

Keep going for a short video of the chair doing its thing.

Thanks to Gravity, who keeps my feet planted firmly here on earth even though I'd much rather be floating. THANKS A LOT.

  • Jenness

How does the hat get finished? I would have liked to see it drop or do they cut it off and tie ends? I need more information - but it's still cool and we need more rocking chairs that do stuff for us.

  • But can it knit cake?

  • It had dang well better! (And cake hats. Which are ALMOST as good as cake...)
