Beautiful: Nirvana's Smells LIke Teen Spirit Performed On A Traditional Korean Gayageum

March 4, 2016

This is a video of musician Luna Lee performing Nirvana's classic 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' on a traditional Korean stringed Gayageum. I am not familiar with the Gayageum, but it sounds like a beautiful instrument. Truthfully, I have never been very musical. Or artistic. Plus I'm bad at math and science. I'm bad at everything really. I'm a decent eater though, except when it comes to my vegetables. "No dessert for you then." Awww, mom!

Keep going for the video as well as Red Hot Chili Pepper's 'Californication' in case that's more your speed.

Thanks to Joseph A, who can play anything with strings except the marionette.

  • I think this one crushes those other two: Same girl doing layla by Derek and the Dominoes:

Google "gayageum" and Luna is like, the first few pages. She's kicking so much ass!

  • That is some musical talent.
I could listen to her all day.

  • Awesome as heck. Irrespective her use of a drum track, that was excellent. I must now build one...

  • Xockszky

Her rendition of Californication gave me goose bumps! It's absolutely amazing!

  • The Magnificent Newtboy

It's amazing how good californication sounds in this.

  • TheQiwiMan

This is so cool. If she could go back in time and play this in an ancient Korean court she'd either be married off to the Emperor ....or killed as a witch.

  • Deksam

She should join a Western rock band.
While she is probably shunned by her traditional peers, that doesn't matter to me, this forbidden fruit sound great, I think I am in love or at least lust.

  • cardstock

This has to be one of the top 10 Gayageum performances I've heard today!

  • Gene Kaufman

Nah, man, it's definitely in my top 5.
