The Ruggie, An Alarm Clock Rug That Only Turns Off When You Step On It With Both Feet

January 11, 2016

The Ruggie is an alarm clock in a rug that only turns off after you stand on it with both feet for three seconds or more (it can be programmed for longer). It's supposed to get you out of bed in the morning without snoozing. The alarm runs on 3 AAA batteries, and comes with a USB cord so you can transfer personalized alarm sounds or have it play a custom inspirational message after you've turned it off (i.e. "Don't die out there today!"). The device is an already-funded Kickstarter campaign, so $80 gets you one when they ship this August. Unfortunately, if you're anything like me, just putting your feet on the ground isn't enough to prevent you from going back to bed. I can wake up, pee in the toilet (sink if I'm really groggy), shower, get dressed, make breakfast, and still go straight back to sleep after. It's a gift really. "You're fired." That's cool, I'm about to win the Powerball jackpot anyways.

Keep going for a demo of the custom inspirational messages option, and their marketing video.

Thanks to n0nentity, who agrees not having to set an alarm is one of the best feelings in the world. It's the little things.

This has been around for years. The people on Kickstarter did not do their research they are not the ones to invent this. This item has been for sale for years.

    Okay, this is pretty clever.

  • I prefer to be awoken the old fashioned way - being pestered for sex by my boyfriend.
He's a lot more difficult to ignore.

Jump to conclusions matte still hasn't been invented yet
