3 Million Bats Leaving Their Cave At Dusk To Go Hunting

January 11, 2016

This is a video from the Mulu National Park in Borneo, Malaysia, of an estimated three million bats leaving a cave at dusk to go hunt insects. You know a lot of people don't like bats, but I think they're great. I even caught one in a pillow case once because it got trapped in my parents' screen porch and couldn't figure how to get out. When I released him back into the night sky we shared a special moment. We made a CONNECTION. I was hoping it was going to be one of those situations where he would come back to visit me ever so often, but he never did. Ungrateful flying rat. I SAVED YOU.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to me, for being brave enough to admit that, yes, I am Batman.

  • But how do they know there are 3 million bats?
    Who counted them?

If there are that many insects there to support that many bats on a nightly basis, fuck ever going to Borneo.

You need a new normal. Absent the mass extinction event we're witnessing, flocks and herds of other animals was normal.
