NASA Roboticist Discusses Star Wars Droid Designs

This is a video of NASA roboticist Brett Kennedy discussing what he thinks of the designs of Star Wars droids BB-8, R2-D2 and C-3PO. BB-8 he's not that into from a practicality standpoint, but he digs aspects of R2 and C-3PO. He would only suggest taking C-3PO into space though. You know it's weird how putting NASA in front of anybody's title instantly makes them sound more knowledgeable and trustworthy. I'm going to start telling people I'm a NASA something or another so they respect me more. Now....what do I want to be? NASA writer? NASA engineer? NASA space scientist? Ooooh, I've got it -- NASA owner and CEO! Man, people are going to think I'm so smart and rich and cool.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to becca b, who agrees there should be a droid made from complete scrap that has like square wheels and a bunch of missing parts and just really struggles doing anything because I want a character I can relate to.

i wish these guys could drop the professional demeanor for a minute or two and just absolutely rip on stuff instead of carefully dancing around the "its a piece of shit" maypole
