Pictures Of 'Soul-Sucking' Smartphones Are Supposed To Carry A Message

November 10, 2015

SUR-FAKE is a series of photos taken and manipulated by French photographer Antoine Geiger. Prepare for some headiness!: "It is placing the screen as an object of 'mass subculture', alienating the relation to our own body, and more generally to the physical world." I think we can all agree: a very new and original concept that has never been brought to our attention until we saw these photos. *eyeing pictures* It looks like Antoine just started learning Photoshop twenty minutes ago.

Keep going for several more in case you weren't sure just how dead art is (it is dried up like a mummy), or just want to feel good about your own Photoshop skills.

people that try to say technology is making lose touch with frankly...anything, are those who just can't keep up with changing times and deserve to be left behind in the past. While at the same time completely failing to address how technology allows us to connect to each other on a much more broader scale than just the physical world can. These criticisms of technology are just people who are close minded. Which makes them irrelevant to life.

Ever stop someone on a smartphone from walking in front of a bus? And then subsequently harassed by said person on smartphone?
    I have.

We get it artists, people spend a lot of time on their smartphones. It's, like, super deep commentary on society, and junk.

    I can feel it working

If those were news papers, like they would have been 30 years ago, no shits would be given.

  • Adibobea9

Yup, I forgot people would take pictures with the newspaper everywhere they went. Man, how time flies…

  • Meh

Oh cheap media art why are thou there.

  • Mark

Smartphones are great but the teenage girls and their
    selfies obsession is super irritating.

  • GristleMcNerd

Oh for crying out loud... I am SO sick and tired of artists doing the "SMARTPHONES ARE EEEEEEVIL! EEEEEEEEEVIL!" thing. It's tired, it's stupid and, considering most of us use the damn things to communicate with our friends, it's just plain wrong.

  • Guesticle

but do you also use them during sex?

  • MustacheHam

This is a bit hilarious, but it does show a good message.

Oh, and since we're sharing what this reminds us of. I'll share that this instantly reminded me of

  • TheQiwiMan

    Love Bill Plympton!

  • Adibobea9

Oh and remember that scene from Beetlejuice when Adam takes a selfie:

  • Koolhaas

reminds me of something you'd see on Dr Who

  • Guesticle

there was one just like it with tv

  • The Idiot's Lantern.
