Man Makes Keyboard Array Containg Every Emoji

September 22, 2015

Seen here looking like he hopped straight out of an infomercial, Tom Scott shows off the 12 keyboard array he put together to have a button for every single emoji available in Unicode 8. That is over 1,000 emojis. It is hands down the most useless thing you will see today provided you don't run into my roommate.

Keep going for a video tour of the least convenient keyboard to bring to a LAN party.

Thanks to SNUM, who still uses the oldschool text-based emoticons because his computer is a flip phone.

  • Meh

I say burn it. Do you want to read a book with 1 letter on every page? No you don't.

  • Emmitt Morgans

See? Tom Scott doesn't just talk about places and things that are interesting! He also has a keyboard setup that types every currently "imaginable" emoji.

  • And in the future, aliens will excavate this atrocity, carbon date it, and try to figure out why humans evolved enough to build miniature pocket computers...but still used hieroglyphics to communicate with one another.

Am I the only one who thought from the video image "this looks like it came from the early 90's"? Something about his outfit and hair...

Then I started the vid and realized, "oh, he's just British".

  • And just what are you saying about us British?

  • TheQiwiMan

..that every single one of them is a snappy dresser and passionate kisser!! :-)

  • MustacheHam

This video did make me very interested in the keyboards. Just the software and hardware used to use multiple keyboards at once. Oh the emoji thing...yeah that's not really important to me.

  • Andrew Newton

And with my accent, it will only take you 30 seconds longer to realize what a massive idiot I really am.

  • Jesus what a loser.

It's a fun little project. You should watch more of Tom Scott's videos, because they're pretty cool. Here's a link:
