These several shots and a video highlighting a Skyrim 'potato texture' mod being developed by game modder UniqueUses that makes the game look like a cartoon animation. What the hell is a potato texture? My favorite is mashed but with still a few chunks and a shit-ton of sour cream and chives mixed in.
"I'm basically making my own potato texture mod...and weather that goes with it to help hide that ugly lod [level of detail]," said UniqueUses on reddit. "I like the potato texture style, but I think a lot of fixing up needs to be done for it to be playable. So I'm going to attempt to make things like signs and faces readable but still fit the potato style. For example, certain puzzles need to be seen, so I'm going to edit those."
Potato texture refers to a simplistic graphics style. It's often deployed to try and get games like Skyrim running on lower-end hardware.
Just the thing I need to bide my time until Fallout 4 is released. I think I put something like 120 hours into Skyrim. I want to put at least double that into the new Fallout. No -- triple. Truthfully, I want to live my life in the game like TRON except with a Deathclaw mount and an unexploded atom bomb for a penis. So, what do you say, apocalypse survivor lady -- your vault or mine? Just so we're clear though my vault is pretty much overrun with feral ghouls though so if yours doesn't have those I would really like to suggest your place.
Hit the jump for a bunch more examples and a video. Note: Mod is not out yet but will be available HERE sometime in the near-ish future.
Thanks to dirtfloor and Lucas, who want a stick figure version of Skyrim that they can run on their TI-82 calculators.
