Human Torch Drone Built To Promote New Fantastic Four

This is a video of the Human Torch drone built by marketing firm Thinkmodo flying around a firefighting training facility in New York. It looks pretty believable. So, who's going to see the new Fantastic 4 movie this weekend? What's the premise of this one anyways? Isn't it a reboot? What's up with all the reboots? Isn't this only the third Fantastic 4 movie? Did they already run out of ideas? Did you know movies are really just the government's way of controlling our thoughts and emotions? They make reboots when the original movie didn't have the desired effect on the population. That's a fact. Don't even look it up, just internalize it then join my cult.

Keep going for the whole video.

Thanks to Remy, who tried to claim he loves fire even more than I do even though I'm the one who just set a coworker's wastebasket on fire.

Ah right! Johnny Storm is burnt, that explains everything.

  • TheQiwiMan

I thought the vid was pretty freaking cool. Guess I'm in the minority.

  • Bling Nye

Great, a couple cops will be along to brutalize and murder you shortly.

  • Jenness

This looks lame as hell. The other Fantastic Four franchise is still new and has WAY better and hotter actors. If you are going to do a reboot, you have to at least wait for the old cast's stars to fade a bit and you want to cast really hot new actors who can actually act. Even the previews are awful so if these are the best picks to reel in the audience - how much worse is it?

Edited to add - and the flaming drone thing has already been done so I'm really REALLY meh about this movie now.

It's an annoying mess with the FF movies. What happened in simple terms. The first movie was okay. The second one was hated by the hardcore. Because it altered the main villain too much. And wasn't a good plot.

Next issue is FOX owns the FF rights. They have to make a new movie after a certain time. Or the rights are restored to Marvel. Since movie 2 did poorly. They wanted to do a reboot. Since they took that huge break. They didn't want to risk a 3rd one with the same cast. And Evans is Captain America now. So FOX is forced to keep making FF movies. Weather they work or not. Every so often.

  • Ralfone

Not to mention the whole Captain America on fire thing...

Meh, this stunt - drones that look like flying superheroes - was already done (minus the flames, of course) three years ago to promote Chronicle. And it was much cooler back then because they flew the drones over a city and didn't tell anyone, so people were actually all "WTF?! Was that a flying human?!"

  • Mik

And the funny thing is Josh Trank Directed both Chronicle and This F4 Reboot.

  • Bling Nye

I WISH they'd done this like that...

"WTF?! IS THAT HUMAN ON FIRE, AAAAND FLYING?!?!!!111!!1?!?!1?!!?"

  • Syd

That turn at 1:13 looks badass

  • PUNX

why? prob would have been better as CGI, that thing looks like it will cause a whole lotta fires. should have just had that thing light the 4 symbol by flying over it.

  • Tyguy

Huh? Are you under the impression that this is the effect that they are using for the movie?

  • PUNX

nope, just that this looks pretty shitty. why not do this promo this with cgi instead and not waste time of a fire department too.

  • Bling Nye

Real fire is a hell of a lot cheaper than CGI fire. And fire departments are usually bored as fuck when there's no fires to fight, so it's not really a waste of time... it was either this or add a 5,000th coat of wax to the fire engines.

  • Tyguy

    Aaaah, gotcha
