Man Walks 600 Miles To Comic-Con Dressed As Stormtrooper To Honor Late Wife

July 10, 2015

Kevin Doyle's wife Eileen died in 2012 to pancreatic cancer. And this year Kevin walked over 600 miles to San Diego Comic-Con to honor her memory and raise money for Eileen's Little Angels, a non-profit he started to help raise the spirits of children battling cancer.

Eileen and I both shared a passion for Star Wars and are members of the world-wide costuming organization the 501st Legion and as a member I regularly participate in charitable events, fund-raising and various walks. This time I will be walking in Eileen's memory. With the money raised I will be able to create such things as a coloring book, bandana's, a blanket and plush toys...all featuring Eileen's artwork. It is my hope that this walk will help me to heal and give my life purpose by sharing Eileen's spirit through her artwork with children battling cancer and put a little sunshine into their lives.

After Comic-Con is over, Kevin will walk the 600 miles back to Petaluma, California, and hopes he will finally be able to move past the loss of his wife. Godspeed, Kevin, and let me know if you want to roast a tauntaun when you return.

Keep going for a couple more shots (including one of the couple at Comic-Con in the past), and a video news report.

Thanks to Sharon, who actually got to see Kevin on his journey. That is sweet.
