You Forgot Rule 1: Check Plane For Cats Before Takeoff

June 22, 2015

This is a video from the Ultra Léger Motorisé aeronautics club in French Guiana of a cat that stowed away in the plane's wing before a flight. Apparently the cat is the club's mascot and wanted to see what this flying thing is all about. The cat is fine and presumably learned its lesson about sleeping in plane wings, or only has 8 lives left.

Hit the jump for the video then wish you were flying in a little rinky-dink plane in French Guiana instead of sitting at your desk at work. That's what I'm doing.

Thanks to Heather, who agrees that flight probably doesn't come with complementary soda or peanuts.

iirc cats terminal velocity is nonlethal so if it falls from high enough it'll he was safe enough during flight anyway

  • Wonfis

AND cats' ability to survive falls relies on having enough time to prepare to land properly; it means there's a height below which they don't get fast enough to cause damage, a different height above which they have time to prepare and survive, and a lethal range in between where they're in trouble. IIRC it's a few stories high.

  • Wonfis

If he falls off low enough, though, his horizontal velocity won't have died away by the time he lands, so it was still pretty dangerous.

    Anybody else thinking of this..

  • Wyldstaar

It seems as though cats enjoy the feeling of the wind on their face while riding aboard a vehicle just as much as dogs do.

  • Martin Ruby

"In the unlikely event of a loss of cabin pressure, a kitty will drop from the overhead compartment to offer you comfort in your final moments."

  • KingCraigers

That chic had no clue until he started to land.

  • side effect

His face when he first notices the cat.

  • Leland_Gaunt

I wonder if that pussy joined the mile high club?

  • Soylent Green Is People

Cat's all, like, "Why the fuck did you land?! I said "Barrel roll, motherfucker!!"
