The Avengers Reimagined As Dark Fantasy Characters

June 11, 2015

This is a series of digital paintings by artist Daniel Kamarudin reimagining Avengers characters with a dark fantasy twist (previously: this other person who did the same thing back in 2012). Who is your favorite? I like Black Widow and The Hulk. If I had to raid a dungeon I would definitely want them on my team. For the record though, I don't want to have to raid a dungeon. And if I did, I would try to hire a team of mercenaries at the closest tavern to do it for me. Then I would sit back and drink grog and tell stories about all the dragons I've slayed and damsels I've rescued who repaid my bravery with fake cell phone numbers.

Keep going for the rest.

Thanks to Sam The Sham, who asked me to go LARPing this weekend which I graciously declined because I'm scared of getting lost in the woods.

  • Butter Biscuits McGee

Too many tassels ... too many cooks.

  • Richard Jarrell

Hawkeye reminds me of Grenth (Guild Wars).

  • TheIronFistOfDeath

Looks very Guild Wars 2 inspired.

  • Battastic

So is it just me or did anyone else think that was the Red Skull until you read the bottom of the image? That should have just been Red Skull and called it a day. I just don't see Ultron.

  • GearHead

But Thor is just kinda Thor.

  • Fercho

That's the one I liked the most. You know he's Thor but it is different enought to make a cooler Thor.

  • just admit that its a mix up of elder scrolls and avengers...

  • "More belts."

    -these guys, probably

  • FearlessFarris

Haha, that hadn't jumped out at me until just now, but you're right: they're all wearing a shit-load of belts. There must have been a sale a their local ALDO.

It's got to suck to have to take a #2...

  • EmperorXenol

The Iron Man is my fave.

  • FearlessFarris

This artist has a much better Hulk, but I kind of like the 2012 artist's take on Capt. America and Hawkeye more. Both have pretty great takes on Black Widow, which is a character I'm not a huge fan of in comics or movies, yet is somehow way more intriguing as a character in these fantasy paintings.
