So Much Emotion: A 4 Hour Compilation Of Fan Reactions To The News Of Final Fantasy 7 Remake

June 26, 2015

This is a four hour compilation of fans reacting to the news that Square Enix is preparing a Final Fantasy 7 remake. For those of you who aren't familiar, Final Fantasy 7 is considered by many to be one of the best RPGs of all time. The remake's announcement will undoubtedly go down in history and in the future people will ask each other if they remember where they were when it was announced. Do you remember where you were? "On the shitter at work on my smartphone." Okay well you might want to consider making up something else to tell your grandkids.

Keep going for the most exciting four hours of other people's lives.

Thanks to Bret R, who was on the moon when the Final Fantasy 7 remake was announced and hopefully remembered to bring me back some cheese and a wheel from the lunar rover like I requested.

This makes me soo happy! I hope they put some star ocean elements in it...I hate to say it but star ocean has the right mechanics...the storylines/style just suck...

  • You know what would make me happy? If Square Enix relinquished the publishing rights to the Xenogears universe back to Monolith, and they redid it instead, with enhanced sprites and a second disc that lets you play through the events of the game, instead of telling you about them after the fact.

And to think, I just bought the Steam version in January. Clearly, that was $4 poorly spent.

One might ask "but where is the FFVI remake," though only prior to realizing that FFVI is, in fact, the best thing Square ever did and remaking it would be heretical.

    FFVII was a mess.

  • Gene Kaufman

I enjoyed the world of Final Fantasy VII and would like to see it remade. But yeah, it was kind of a mess.

I'm actually playing FFVI for the first time right now, and in my opinion, it's a much better game as a whole.

All things said though, alot of people did enjoy FFVII and still do, so I guess that must stand for something.

  • Munihausen

I recall playing FFVII and made it, I think, to the point where you get Cait Sith. Not a terrible game, really, but very illustrative of the franchise's growing pains from 16-bit to whatever PS1 was. In light of how just great FFIV and FFVI were - and continue to be in the various ports/remakes (e.g., GBA versions) - it pales a bit despite it being the platform for the remainder of the franchise.

BTW, FFI remake on the GBA is wonderful, too.

So much reaction, less reaction is more reaction

  • When do I get Half Life 3?! WHYYYYYY!!!!!

  • ToyBoxofGuns

The trailer was nothing more than the developers masturbating to their own nostalgia. I loved FF7 and have fond memories of it, but that trailer was clumsy, self invloved, and a giant, painful disappointment.

I want that 1:40 back that I spent watching it, I can't imagine what kind of obnoxious event 4 hours of nothing but people's reactions to a video would be. Perhaps we've found a replacement for waterboarding?

  • Gene Kaufman

Can't you just be happy for people?
    Is that even a possibility?

  • I rarely see such a display of genuinely happy people these days. Thanks for sharing GW! :)

  • Emmitt Morgans

Wake me when there's a 'Chrono Trigger' remake... *yawn*

  • Gene Kaufman

Honestly I don't feel the need for a Chrono Trigger remake. I think the game is great just the way it is.
Final Fantasy VII on the other hand...

  • timeiskey

the original and the ps1 version are unplayable to me because the 5 second battle load times.
