Freaky Deaky Closeup Video Of Praying Mantis Faces

May 15, 2015

Zorak -- is that you?!

This is a video featuring face closeups of a bunch of different praying mantis species (plus some grasshoppers) while they perform various activities. The short was created by Academy Award winning director Zana Briski to encourage us to rethink our relationship with the natural world. Or something like that. Just read this while I try a pumpkin pie flavored Pop-Tart for the first time.

Zana Briski's REVERENCE is a traveling exhibit of large-scale photographs, film and music housed in a movable 10,000 square ft. structure designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Shigeru Ban. Inspired by dreams of a praying mantis, REVERENCE challenges us to rethink our relationship to the earth and her creatures by bringing us face to face with insects - with insects as individual sentient beings. REVERENCE will journey to city parks around the world.

Pumpkin pie Pop-Tarts -- NOT BAD. Even cold (I don't have a toaster). Still, it's weird to think that like, praying mantises are people. "Praying mantises are not people." Was that not the message of this video? "No." Then what WAS the message of the video? "Just forget it." Wanna watch me eat this scab? "It's not even yours, I saw you pick it up off the ground!" I just left it there for safe keeping.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to TTRELBMA, who I'm fairly certain just banged their head on their keyboard with caps lock on. Or has an acronym for a name.
