Yeah, Nobody's Betting On The Watch: Liquid Nitrogen Apple Watch Versus Sledgehammer

April 28, 2015

Rounding out the entirety of our Apple Watch coverage (which consists of the previous post and this one), here's a video of an Apple Watch being submerged in liquid nitrogen, then getting smacked with a sledgehammer. So if you ever wondered if a super cold Apple Watch can survive a blow from a sledgehammer, the answer is no. Of course, if you're getting beat in the arm with a sledgehammer, you've probably got bigger problems to worry about than your watch. Namely, somebody is trying to kill you. Also, I'm fairly certain even a room temperature Apple Watch wouldn't survive a blow from a sledgehammer, so the liquid nitrogen was really just overkill.

Keep going for the video.

Thanks to Champ, who I suspect is behind the video on account of the fact he sent it to me four times.

already seen this done with the $17k variant in private, because genuine wealth and waste don't need viewer hits, notoriety, or ad revenue...

  • WronglyRabbit

You think this video was made to display the creator's wealth? Also you mean "popularity", not "notoriety". Maybe if you're doing rich-people things in private it should be going to a private school.

  • Mighty Molecule

No, these films are made for notoriety, to be clear, for wealth in the popularity such notorious acts bring and subsequent revenue. They all are.

  • GeneralDisorder

I have a slight objection to how they did this. They should dip the items into the Dewar directly. Stop pouring the nitrogen out. You're adding tons of heat energy when you do that.

It would be an interesting way of executing death row prisoners. Make a TV show with advertising and everything. You'll be rich!

  • BeastmanAIDS

Unless it's going to shatter like the T1000 or Wesley Snipes' head in Demolition Man it's probably going to be a bit of a let down.

"Liquid Nitrogen Apple Watch Versus Sledgehammer." Um, the glass on a regular-temperature-Apple Watch can't withstand the completely incidental impact that most wrist watches experience from time to time with a wall or desk. The liquid nitrogen and hammer are completely superfluous.

I'm all for dipping things in liquid nitrogen and then smashing them....but this seems like the outcome would have looked exactly the same without it.

  • Adibobea9

I hate that people post these things and I even have more hate for myself because I contribute to the view count by watching such a stupid video…

  • raz0rh00f

Yeah it's nice to see people smashing expensive shit for the sake of it while people continue to starve elsewhere. But they gotta get those YouTube views!

  • GeneralDisorder

That's brilliant. Smash starving people! Dip them in liquid nitrogen, etc. Brilliant! You're a genius. I'm stealing this idea though. And I won't give you credit.
