Oh Hell No: Amateur Spelunkers Stuff Their Bodies Down Impossibly Small Hole To Reach Cave

March 18, 2015

This is a video of a bunch of amateur spelunkers squeezing themselves into a tiny hole in a rock to reach Deep Cave in Edwards County, Texas. Apparently there are other, much larger entrances, but using this one is how you earn the street cred (technically cave cred). It looks terrifying. Just watching the video made my palms sweaty. Plus hairy. "That's from masturbating." IT'S FROM WATCHING THIS VIDEO.

Hit the jump and get your claustrophobia on.

Thanks to EL DIABLO, who, at least in my mind, is wearing a luchador mask right now.

    Fuck and no.

  • Elak Swindell

What a pointless entrance. Instead of trying to squeeze through such a tiny hole, why not take a sledgehammer and widen it a bit for easier access?

  • dougfunnay

i dont care enough to check but if theyre in a national park or something like that it would be illegal

also thats like asking a mountain climber why they didnt just blow the top off the mountain to make it easier to climb..... or heck why not just use the transporter and teleport to the top?

you still have a lot to learn about humanity data.

  • Elak Swindell

If it's in a national park area, then yes, widening the hole wouldn't be allowed. If not, they by all means, make it easier to enter/exit. You're analogy about the mountain climber has no relevance to this situation since no one would even think about doing or asking such a thing, nor does it pertain to the situation. If the hole is easily accessible by many people and can be widened a bit, then there's no reason not to other than just to see idiots hurt themselves trying to squeeze through such a tiny hole.

  • dougfunnay

why not just carve nice little stair ways into every mountain?

" If the mountain is easily accessible by many people and can be carved a bit, then there's no reason not to other than just to see idiots hurt themselves trying to climb such a dangerous mountain."

    some rock solid logic right?

  • Elak Swindell

You love twisting my words and adding in stupidity, don't ya? I never said "If the mountain", I said "hole". You're the one stuck on mountains. It's a tiny hole, so widening it a little isn't going to hurt anything. BTW, hike much? Some national parks actually do have walking paths that rangers have built natural looking steps up the mountains. As for putting them on every hill or mountain, stop being moronic.

  • Reminds me of this... http://brasscockroach.com/h...

  • Kaizer Chief

What's really scary is that after the beard/sunglasses guy goes back down the hole, you don't see him again...

  • Bling Nye

I can't believe none of them took the opportunity to dress up the hole like a vagina.

    F#cking amateurs.

  • Zachary Zarko

Imagine getting stuck in a space so tight that you can't even take a full breath. Every time you try to move an arm or leg, you just get wedged in tighter. This is the stuff of nightmares.

It reminds me of John Jones who in November 2009 got stuck in a cave in Utah. Rescue crews tried to hoist him out with a rope and pulley, but the rig broke, and he ended up getting hopelessly trapped in a tiny, L-shaped passage. The squeeze was so narrow he soon suffocated. After he died, rescuers couldn't recover his body - so they closed the whole cave and made it his tomb.

  • TheQiwiMan

...why has no one thought to widen the hole? If the cave is cool enough for people to subject themselves to this stupidity, wouldn't it be worth manually widening the hole?

  • securitywyrm

There's a bigger hole elsewhere to the same area.

theyre not supposed to go in that way. its like asking why assholes aren't bigger

  • Michael Knight

well, having a dude in there looking out removes 100% of the fear of what the hell is on the other side of that hole. well, unless yer scared of a dude in a yellow shirt with sun glasses on....

  • Proteon

The main camera guy/narrator sounds a little like a muppet and wouldn't be allowed within a hundred yards of my kids

  • Now I want to see some pictures/video of the actual cave.

  • dougfunnay

Fake. This is photoshopped i can tell from the pixels and from having seen quite a few pixels in my time. There is no actual cave just like there was no moon landing. This is just like that movie 2001 a space odyssey when hal tricks david bowman ultimately resulting in a humanities rebirth.

  • disqus_k2QxOV9H7Z

The first thing that comes to my mind are those pictures of people stuck on the weirdest places/objects.

  • Lucas

Yet another example of "thin privilege". That hole should be more accomodating to more full-figured people who aren't stick figures. #sarcasm
